A Healthy Diet Can Reduce Your Risk of Heart Disease.

There is no such thing as a miracle food that will automatically protect you from heart disease. The only effective approach is to adopt an overall lifestyle that reduces the risk of heart disease. Exercise regularly and avoid tobacco. Reduce intake of fat particularly saturated fat and cholesterol.

Those who want to improve the way they eat, but don't know how, can get help from Heart Niagara.

The workshops will cover topics increasing fruits and vegetables into daily menus, adding fiber, choosing healthy fats and healthy aging and active living.  The cooking class will assist you in building menus with fiber-rich foods such as whole grains, beans, fruits and vegetables.

The workshops include discussion on ways to reduce the risk of osteoporosis, some forms of cancer and heart disease. Highlight eating healthy, heart healthy information and examples of affordable and nutritious meals to support healthy aging

Classes are $10.00 or $35.00 for a series of four workshops. Heart Niagara provides cooking classes at a location determined by the group/organization/corporation that will meet the participants interest.  The cost will cover tastings of food prepared and hand outs.

For information on scheduling a class for friends, a series or to attending an existing group, please call 905-358-5552.
