Holter Monitoring

Holter monitors are portable electrocardiogram (ECG). It records the electrical activity of the heart over 24 or more. It is useful for evaluating intermittent arrhythmias and for detecting hypertension.  

Heart Niagara delivers Holter monitor testing as part of our efforts to support better cardiovascular healthcare in the Niagara region.

What do I need to bring?

You'll need to bring your Ontario Health Card for your appointment.

How long will my appointment be?

Diagnostic appointments at Heart Niagara typically last about 20-40 minutes. Patients require multiple tests, however, can expect their appointment to last 60-90 minutes.

How do I return my Holter Monitor?

Once your duration is complete, please return your monitor to Heart Niagara. You will bring it back to our clinic. There is a bin located at the front desk to return used monitors. Your monitor has an ID number which is attached to your patient file. Monitors will be read within 5-7 business days and results will be forwarded to your health care provider.

Appointment Location

Holter Monitoring appointments take place in-person at Heart Niagara. It is important to bring your Ontario Health Card with you when you arrive. Parking is located behind the building off of Park St. and St. Lawrence Avenue.
